Update: He's eating "solid" foods (first on April 19th). He likes avocado, banana and especially oatmeal/rice cereal. Not so crazy about sweet potatoes or yogurt. Very happy eater, seems he could always go for more if we had it. I love his contemplative face as he eats.
Just finishing up his first official cold. In the fashion of children, absolutely hates having the stringy snots wiped away from his nose. Had a rough week of sleeping, hard to put him down and woke several times during the night. Happily, the past two nights we've returned to solid sleep. Mama and papa say: YES. We think he might be teething, and with the way he's eating probably in a growth spurt, so combined with not feeling well, no wonder sleeping was hard. It's tough being a little guy!
On the precipice of mobility. To wit: yesterday, while engaged in our morning routine of J in the swing while I play guitar, I looked up from a chord change to see him going over, and out of the swing--bonk--onto his head on the floor. He'd managed to lean so far over he didn't fall very far, and he landed on the rug, but it startled me so I went ooh! and he, of course, squawked and cried. He's fine, but the days of the swing are now numbered. Kinda sad. He's noticing where things go when he drops them, and we can see in his eyes that he wants to go after them. He's just not sure how to do it. He doesn't quite get the crawling concept yet, and still doesn't really love being on his belly but will roll around some when he is. We've been giving him some crawling lessons, but his favorite part is burying his face in the comforter.
Getting very coordinated with his hands. Will shake a rattle by giving it a good swing with his arm above his head, and can almost feed himself a bottle. Talk about cute. Sits up easily and can stay there playing and balancing for long stretches reading the New Yorker. Loves activity and anything new: wind in the trees outside, watching Isis sniff and run, touching flowers, meeting people and staring at them, whistles, barks, tweets, meows, flashing lights, dad dancing around the kitchen like a weirdo.
Le Foot. J's little foot under the lamby blanket.
Big boy sitting in the rocker.
Jackson and Zackariah.
J and Gina, Zack's mom.
Dancing with mama.
Pescadero beach, north of Santa Cruz.
Little bath.
Bath time is getting much more fun.
JJ wearing daddy's hat. Very hip.
More slime.
Perched on the picnic table. Thanks Jen!
Mama delirious over piece of cake as big as a football at Rocine's.
Locust trees in front of our apartment. Sweet-smelling blossoms last only a few weeks, and they're all but gone now.
