Quick JJ notes: has three teeth, two bottom and half a top front. When he smiles, sometimes a maniacal, head thrown back version, he's got a jack-o'-lantern crooked mug. Hilarious. As of this writing, December 10th, he's days away from walking. He hasn't yet eclipsed the four steps he took with me some days ago, a moment that I'll remember as one of my all-time favorites as a dad, and seems to have plateaued at two, but it's coming. He's very aware of his environment (we call him eagle-eye Jackson), and likes to point to things, the stars in his room, his animals, the coffee machine, the clock. No words yet, but he plays a joke on us. He can say "da-da" easily, been saying it for months. If we say, "Jackson, can you say ma-ma?" He'll get this devious grin and belt out "DA-DA!" He can say ma-ma, he just won't do it on demand. He still twirls his hair into a curlicue when he drinks a bottle and sleeps. It remains on top of his head most of the day as if permanent. He has clear ideas these days and is not overly keen on the concept of no. Tara and I wonder just what we're getting into if this is how it is at 13+ months. He loves being outside, with people, watching things, out and about. To my eternal delight, he'll act as though he's really looking at things I point out to him: the moon, the wind chimes, birdies and airplanes. He's a good boy, takes two naps, one as I write.
