Miracles

The 'no news is good news' adage is unfortunate.  What about the good stuff?  I'm at the page immediately after a bad movie; after a good one, sometimes.  Up all night with Jackson?  Read all about it.  Sleeping well and enjoying a savvy routine?  Less words.  But not this time!

For the past four nights, our sleep schedule with J has been great.  Down easily in his bassinet; sleeps solid for three hours; nurses peacefully for about thirty minutes; goes back down for another three hours.  The best part, after the second feeding, we three doze for as long as we can, and then, when JJ wakes up, we coo in the bed together.  This morning, for ten full minutes, he turned his head from Tara to me and squawked and smiled and burbled.  It was wonderful.  Is this going beyond good news into gushing territory?  Sorry, gotta do it.

One of the reasons sleep is going well is because of the Miracle Blanket we got from "Miracle" Max and Maggie.  They swore by it for their little Ella.  I actually tried it for Jackson when we first brought him home, but then I didn't realize the importance of a good swaddle.  I thought he "liked" having a free hand.  Once we got into the 5 S's from "The Happiest Baby On The Block" and I got better at blanket-swaddling, things started coming together.  But Jackson's stronger now, and when he gets fussy, he can wriggle and loosen that kind of swaddle and wake himself up.  With the Miracle Blanket, he stays tightly swaddled, and you can hear the difference in his coos and grunts.  He's making noise, but he's not working himself up the same way.  And boom: sound asleep!
