Fifteen Weeks

It was inevitable. The updates have slowed. No wonder families with multiple kids have fewer shots of the youngest. It's hard to keep up with one! Amazing changes haven't slowed, though, and we've got to be as diligent as possible in recording these moments. Just like everybody says--it's all going very fast.

Jackson continues to sleep well during the night, though not quite as well as he did for a while. Still, 10p to 5a is common. That's good sleep! He's verbalizing a lot, and watching everything, and if he sees you across the room he'll smile, giggle, then look away, coy. Delightful little dude.

Last week was our first with Tara back at school, her maternity leave officially over. I took care of Jackson during the days, but got some much appreciated help from Bob and Bobbye on Wednesday, which we hope will be a solid routine. We also hired a nanny named Irma who works with several friends of ours to come help for a few hours on Tuesdays. Hopefully this will give me, and us, some breathing room, but we'll probably need more.

Jackson and I played and listened to music together, took walks in the Baby Bjorn, and passed the time pretty easily until mama came home for lunch and a quick nursing at 1pm. Then a couple more hours was all we had to do until she was home again for good. With our routine of activities, and a few naps, we did well. When he was fussy, or I had no time for anything else, it became tricky. It's a unique sort of exhaustion spending so much time with a baby. But I know, deep down, I'll appreciate it. During the down time, I wrote about it. I may have to give up any pretense of it being anything literary, but it's nonetheless important. I'm working on an essay idea about the new "Mr. Mom."
