Sunday April 25th was Jackson's half-year birthday. He continues to devour his rice cereal, opening wide at any spoonful in the general vicinity of his mouth. The extra food (he still enjoys his many times daily breast-feedings too) gives him extra energy, which has its pros and cons. Little dude's desires are getting strong. He'll do a whine-grunt combo when he wants something, which isn't always easy to figure out. At the same time, he's now able to sit up by himself (look out...timber!...always possible), is thinking about crawling, and is getting strong. He somehow managed to pick up Tara's metal water bottle--and it was full. That thing is heavy! I watched as he demonstrated taking his binkie out of his mouth, and then put it right back in again, as if he'd always been able to do it. In, out. In, out. Look dad, see? He's no longer using his "Miracle Blanket," he transitioned to sleep sacks (kind of a zip-up blanket with holes for the arms) in one night. Another instance, like moving him from our room to his own, and starting "solid" food, when he seemed ready before we actually started. For several nights we wondered if he really needed or liked the Miracle Blanket any longer, looked kind of tangled up in it at 5am. But we worried switching might mess up his otherwise great sleep. Nope. Lately, he's going to bed even earlier, around 8 o'clock, and sleeping until morning! If he wakes up in the middle of the night, as he very occasionally does, all it takes is covering him up some, replacing his binkie and that's it. Easy to his parents. Thanks buddy! As you'll see from some pics below, he continues to love being out and about. We went to dinner and he just sat and watched us all eat, didn't fuss at all, and in the stroller ride home, just looked and looked at all the dusky life passing him by. I learned a lesson about soaking it all in from watching him doing it.

Tasty.
See? Jackie like.
More please.
Out to dinner with JJA at Filippo's. (Nice shot, Erica.)
Jackson's first high chair experience.
I call this shot "booze cruise." He's in a swing at Willard Park. Looks like an old man floating down the river to me, not a care in the world.
Six months old, 4/25/10. Recently started to jump in his "jumper" chair.
Neighborhood irises. Attention!
